History

Since 1977 the Contempo Group has been involved with a number of travel services. Originating in Los Angeles, CA, Contempo has grown to represent a number of inter-related businesses making it a diverse and experienced leader in the industry. Contempo has represented and accommodated thousands of clients, many of which are celebrities.

While in California, Contempo sponsored the L.A. Lazer indoor Soccer Team, owned by Dr. Gerry Buss, who also owned the Lakers and Kings. Contempo Group was considered by Travel Magazines as the No.1 operator for Cosmos/Globus, sending U.S. travelers on coach tours to Europe. At this time Contempo worked to create a new marketing approach for major shows and exhibition companies, saving exhibitors and attendees considerable sums in respect of hotel accommodation and flights.

In 1991 Contempo incorporated fully in Florida, creating a new concept in the Sales, Management and Rentals of luxury private homes.

The group researched Florida during 1988 in relation to the expected growth in both tourism and vacation home sales, eventually becoming one of the largest in Central Florida.

Local Influence

Contempo originally worked with one of the best builders in Polk County, Florida, Sam Rogers Homes Inc., selling in excess of 25% of his two major developments in Lakeland and Hudson, Florida. Contempo put both of these locations on the map to residents of Europe, which has been duly recognized as such by the Polk County Tourist Development Association. The group has created and attended major exhibitions in the UK, Ireland, Holland, U.S.A., South Africa, the Middle East and Canada.

In 1997 Contempo created the Central Florida Association of Property Management Companies in an effort to improve the image of an industry showing considerable growth potential. This led to Webber College of Central Florida undertaking a year long study in 1999 that provided statistical evidence to support the growth Contempo had predicted.

Contempo Today

Additionally, this new association actively worked with county commissioners to create a new ordinance specifically relating to short-term rentals in the Disney area. More recently Contempo has targeted the huge US market for sales and rentals and has developed a strong International Business Opportunities Division in order to satisfy the increasing demand from foreign investors to live and work in Florida.

Contempo has also expanded into land acquisition and development with a major developer creating two new short-term rental projects in the Disney area, with sole rights for sales and management

The Contempo head office is located in it’s company owned complex in a new two story purpose designed building in the heart of the Disney area. In addition Contempo has offices located in Lakeland, Florida, together with representatives within the UK, such as Contempo Midlands.

Contempo has also developed relationships with agents in Dubai, Bahrain, and throughout the Caribbean.

Most recently Contempo’s growth has been directed toward the Caribbean. With developments in Nevis, West Indies; Exuma, Bahamas; and Isla de Margarita, Venezuela, Caribbean sales have enhanced Contempo’s international portfolio.

Contempo continues to expand in Florida by building homes in 2005 at the prestigious Providence Golf and Country Club community in fast growing North East Polk County, Florida.

The Contempo Group of Companies has become a well established and reputable leader in this fast growing tourist driven industry.
